Lancashire County Cricket Club, Case Study

Lancashire County Cricket Club (LCCC) encountered a significant challenge during the refurbishment of their indoor sports facility: identifying a flooring solution that could endure damp subfloors while maintaining performance and environmental sustainability standards. DuraFlex, our latest innovation of our previous DCI Pro surface, emerged as the ideal choice, featuring an innovative no-glue installation system tailored to LCCC’s specific requirements.

DuraFlex’s unique loose-laid design with a drytex backing offered the stability and durability essential for LCCC’s high-traffic indoor sports facility. As a product DuraFlex has very similar properties and charactersitics to Taraflex Performance SL surface which is classified within the P2 category, both sets of flooring meet the high performance and safety standards demanded by both club training sessions and competitive matches.

The incorporation of CXP-HD foam and D-max construction ensured optimal performance, safety, and exceptional dimensional stability, crucial for a facility frequented by professional athletes.

DuraFlex’s standout feature for LCCC was its sustainability aspect. The loose-laid design not only simplified the installation but also eliminated the need for additional moisture barriers, reducing labor and material costs.

The flooring’s eco-friendly credentials resonated with LCCC’s sustainability commitment. Crafted from recycled materials, DuraFlex demonstrated the club’s effort to minimize its environmental impact. Approximately 2,000 bottles were repurposed for an 800-square-meter court, showcasing LCCC’s contribution to a circular economy.

Moreover, DuraFlex’s easy removal and recyclability aligned with LCCC’s sustainability objectives. Manufactured in Europe, the flooring boasted a low CO2 footprint, while its compliance with health and safety standards, including 100% REACH compliance and a formaldehyde-free composition, reinforced LCCC’s dedication to athlete well-being.

In conclusion, by opting for DuraFlex for their indoor sports facility renovation, Lancashire County Cricket Club secured top-notch performance and safety while showcasing their commitment to environmental responsibility and sustainability, setting a benchmark for sports facilities across the country.
